Faculty Fellows are tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty who are appointed to the Center for Teaching Excellence in recognition of their outstanding undergraduate and/or graduate teaching.
Fellows are appointed by the Dean of Undergraduates based on their record of outstanding teaching, often reflected in the receipt of teaching awards and nominations for teaching prizes. Each Spring, nominations from deans, chairs, and current faculty fellows are submitted to the Chair of the Faculty Fellows; the Chair then makes recommendations for appointments to the Dean of Undergraduates.
The number of Fellows appointed in a specific year will be determined by the number of new appointments and reappointments required to maintain a steady-state of 15 Fellows. Three Fellows will be appointed from each of the Schools of Engineering, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences, and three Fellows will be appointed from the combined Schools of Architecture, Business, and Music.
