What does it mean for students to produce knowledge? Is it possible to engage students as producers in the classroom while they develop skills and master content knowledge? This talk will focus on pedagogical practices that utilize interdependence, participation, and collective responsibility to shape the learning environment.  We will start with a brief overview of the evidence that students learn best through knowledge production and how this approach can facilitate student inclusion, persistence, and learning in higher education. Next faculty from across Rice University will present examples of how they apply various pedagogical approaches to engage students as producers of knowledge in the classroom.

This event is open to all within the Rice community. Pizza will be served.

RSVP is closed.
