2019 FALL READING GROUP
The Center for Teaching Excellence invites you to join us this fall as we read How Humans Learn: The Science and the Stories Behind Effective College Teaching by Joshua R. Eyler (former Director of the CTE). In this book Eyler synthesizes research in fields as diverse as developmental psychology, anthropology, and cognitive neuroscience to provides insights into how our student learn. The book is organized around five broad themes running through recent scientific inquiry—curiosity, sociality, emotion, authenticity, and failure – and provides practical takeaways to put into practice.
If you decide to join us, we will purchase your book. Please RSVP by September 6th if you would like a complimentary copy of the book. We will notify you when books have arrived and can be picked up prior to the first meeting. We recommend you pick up the book no later than Friday September 13th to provide you with enough time to read the first selection. **If you own a copy, please bring kindly it with you.
